We lost Xena last night. She’s been fighting kidney failure for these past couple of weeks, and she died last night. We will so miss her – at age 5 and a half, she was a special member of the family, and had each of our hearts in the palm of her paw… Anyone who’s ever lost a special pet will know what I mean, but there are really no words to express how empty the house feels today.
The kids are troupers, and are holding up well. They helped with her care over the past couple of weeks and the emergency visit to the vet last night – we couldn’t ask for better, more thoughtful kids.
Goodbye Xena, go now in peace. You were loved, and never knew cruelty or want. In return, we know you gave us everything you had. Good dog.

Phil — so sorry to hear your news. I was wondering what was up when you said you were at the vet the other day. Hearts to all of you. We’ve been there and it doesn’t feel good.
